A DOUBLE ENTENDRE COCKTAIL  A woman goes to a cocktail bar and says, "I'd like a double entrendre." The bartender says, "I'll give you one!"  Above is a Sourtoe Cocktail, a speciality of the Downtown Hotel in Dawson City, Yukon. For $5, customers can drink the cocktail, served with an amputated toe, and join the Sourtoe Cocktail Club if they comply with the following rule: “You can drink it fast, you can drink it slow. But the lips have gotta touch the toe.” The Sourtoe Cocktail is usually served with whisky; over 30 are served each day. Since September 1973, when Dick Stevenson found a severed big toe preserved in a jar and invented the cocktail, there are well over 100,000 members of the Sourtoe Cocktail Club. The Club had a fine of $500 for anybody swallowing the toe in the cocktail. But recently one New Orleans man drank the cocktail and swallowed the toe. When challenged, he calmly placed $500 on the bar, walked off and left town. The Club has now increased the fine to $2,500. The Club is always looking out for replacement severed toes. I drink B-52s if the night is going to be a long and drunken one. I love tomato juice so I like an occasional Bloody Mary, but it has to be served with Worcestershire sauce. A Mojito is my refreshment of choice on a hot summer day.

I don't go in for all those fancy cocktails, mixed drinks really for me. I can see why there is a fine for swallowing the toe! Is the bartender's name "Stumpy"? Happy HNW. I will thanks the guy serving that is making that dink in the first picture. I like my White Russians, strawberry daiquiris pina coladas adult root beer floats The Light is shinning and she is lonely and waiting in the darkness.

I miss them days , but I done. Do that make sense, I quit drinking, but I crave it when I'm around it.

I feel slightly nauseous now..... a TOE????  I'm a dark beer or bourbon/rye kind of gal... mixed with ginger ale in the summer to spritz things up a bit!

I used to enjoy drinking cocktails with my wife; it is somehow a shared kind of drink - it used to be much more fun... hey ho, life goes on. Tequila Sunrise is fun and a long slow comfortable screw is always a pleasure, with the right company!

Mocktail? Never heard that term. I guess drinks without alcohol no longer want to be called virgins. I haven't had a B52 in decades and Bloody Marys have too much food in them (plus I don't like tomato juice) Whatever happened to wine coolers? Gosh darn I'm getting old! Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

This was an interesting read and I was a bartender for over twenty years and I have to say this is the first time I had ever heard of a Sourtoe Cocktail. I would have to pass on that one. No I don't drink Mocktails. My favorite drinks would be A Slow Comfortable Screw Up Against The Wall, Amaretto Sour, and of course a Cuba Libre.. I hope you both enjoy some great cocktails today and have a Happy Hump Day.. Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..

Coming to think of it, haven't had a "cocktail", (could be a sexy word that as well, eh), in ages, but your "Mojito cocktail" does look refreshing! ..... Speaking of crimes against humanity (okay, against scottish humanity!) McPunkster, there was a Whisky Cocktails tent at this year's Fringe Festival, bottom of the mound, by the art gallery........a bloody disgrace so it was!!
