I live in a world of greys. But even in such a world apologies are important. But trust is a complicated concept and can be violated in many ways. I was in a relationship once in which I share some dark things about myself. While I believe she did not and would not tell others she would use the information against me whenever we disagreed or fought. That kind of dirty fighting is it's own betrayal. I called her out on it. She did improve but I was never able to fully trust her again.

I have a very small number of people (perhaps 3 or 4) in whom I place any trust.

I just want to thank you for sharing , especially a woman's point of view as at this point I worry and wrestle with what to do with a dear friend I love dearly. I thank you for the strength you showed in sharing your feelings and thoughts which make you vulnerable as it us all when we do it. How we handle the after effects tells who we really are. And I would like to apologize to you for things that have happened in the past and even as a man , thought many times how I could have done something different to have changed the out come. I would have done anything to do so. With a deep and troubled heart thank you .......

Dear B_Sweet, I have this inkling to be......well, at least that is the way I would start! ( A Dear Abby tribute) Its true we do hurt others in manners that can be seen as cruel or in words said that after it is said whether we meant them or not, we cant take them back. I have learned to some extent to choose my words wisely before I speak. If I don't it could be hurtful or worse...damaging of a relationship that you're so fond of. Sometimes it's better to walk away to cool off and get a level head so you can truly say what's on your mind without an insult or disparaging comment. I know in the past I have said things I really didn't mean but said them just to be hurtful (to get even) As I have aged, I have a thicker skin and after years of learning, I do choose my words more wisely. Anger is a waste of time, so, "Don't worry, be happy"!
